Energy Smart, Environmentally Smart, Economically Smart
E3

What Has Happened to Date?

  • June 2006:  ESNG enters into agreements with two of its customers to expand the capacity of its interstate pipeline system by approximately 33 percent. The newly signed agreements culminate three years of discussions between ESNG and its customers regarding their interest in natural gas transportation service and access to additional natural gas supply sources.
  • November 2006:  Holland Engineering Inc. (HEI) -- including TGCS Energy Services and ENTRIX -- is selected as the company responsible for designing and permitting the pipeline. HEI has a strong track record of successful installations of pipelines both on and off-shore and has offices in New Castle, DE and Cambridge, MD.
  • Early 2007:  ESNG initiates some preliminary engineering, environmental, and agency contacts in advance of a formal application to initiate a pre-filing process with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).
  • April 2007:  ESNG formally requests use of the pre-filing process with FERC. The pre-filing process provides parties interested in the project an opportunity to comment on it early in the process.
  • May 2007:  FERC approves Eastern Shore's request to initiate the Commission's Pre-filing Process for the proposed E3 Project.
  • May 2007:  AK Environmental (AK) is selected by FERC as the company responsible for preparing the Third Party Environmental Impact Statement for the E3 Project. AK is based in New Jersey and has a strong track record of environmental analysis and pipeline construction both on and off-shore.
  • June 2007:  ESNG conducts open house meetings with landowners and members of the community from the E3 service areas.

ESNG continues environmental studies to ensure that short-term environmental impact is minimized and that long-term environmental impact is avoided. The studies also examine the best routing, from an environmental perspective, for the E3 pipeline.

ESNG holds meetings with key governmental agencies and representatives, as well as Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) to solicit input on how to ensure the overall success of the E3 Project.
