Who is Eastern Shore Natural Gas Company?

Eastern Shore Natural Gas Company (ESNG) is a subsidiary of Chesapeake Utilities Corporation headquartered in Dover, DE. Chesapeake Utilities Corporation has provided value, comfort, and safety to the Eastern Shore and the communities it serves since the mid-1800s.

In 1959, ESNG completed its original pipeline from Parkesburg, PA to Salisbury, MD and initiated natural gas service on the Delmarva Peninsula. Ever since, ESNG has safely and efficiently transported natural gas to its customers in Maryland, Delaware, and Southeastern Pennsylvania.

Today, ESNG receives natural gas from two upstream interstate pipeline systems. It then transports the gas southward through 366 miles of transmission pipeline for delivery to its customers who, in turn, provide natural gas service to thousands of customers. ESNG's customers include five local distribution companies, three electric generation customers and twelve industrial customers located in Delaware, the Eastern Shore of Maryland and Pennsylvania.

We are proud of our strong track record of being a good neighbor to the communities we serve and for being a dependable company with a passionate commitment to safety. As just one example from our proud list of accomplishments, ESNG has been nationally recognized for the last four consecutive years by the American Gas Association for our safe practices.

Eastern Shore Natural Gas Company is committed to providing a safe and environmentally sound project to the area affected during construction of the E3 Project. We welcome your feedback and comments and look forward to continuing to be a good neighbor.

Who is FERC?

As an interstate natural gas pipeline company, ESNG is regulated by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). FERC is the lead federal agency responsible for the approval of all technical aspects of the E3 Project. Construction and operation of the new facilities will move forward only when all necessary FERC, federal, state and local approvals are in place.
